if you went to AZRD earlier this month, you would have seen these great kids skating between the periods. This last weekend, the Tucson Derby Brats had their first regulation length (3 20-minute periods) bout. It was a great roadtrip down to Tucson to see these kids and get a chance to meet our friends in Tucson. I look forward to coming down and seeing them again as soon as I can. From the bout itself, the Green Scream beat the Violet Femmes 93-73. Other derby action this month! Nov 17 As of right now, I plan to be at AZRD on 11/3 and Tucson on 11/17. I wish the Brutal Beauties a back-to-back championship. Sorry, but I am not giving up an opportunity to see three leagues play in one night! (*^u^*) with derby love...

This bout had "WOW" written all over it. Starting off with a very well done National Anthem featuring military color guard, derby fans across Arizona were getting ready for what would turn into a major nail-biter. Just as Snot Rocket became a household name from the Austin Nationals, the upcoming household name in the AZDD is Coffin Draggers' fresh meat Forbid N Fruit. FNF definitely got in some good jams for the 'Draggers. While on the Bombshells, Phenomenon, who just recently came off a nasty injury in Vegas came in with 8, 9 and even 11 point jams. This bout definitely had it's share of brawls including a pretty nasty brawl right in the Dragger zone. Suzy Homewrecker was ejected from the game around that time. Both teams played hard tonight and it was fun seeing Rowdy coming on to the floor riding in a shopping cart. While the turnout was much lower than usual, probably because of the date change, the Dragger fans were much more alive even though there were more fans in the Bombshell zone. Despite my red shirt, congratulations to my friends on the Draggers for a tough fight as well as to the Bombshells who tried really hard.

The Derby Brats came in from Tucson for last Saturday's Arizona Roller Derby (AZRD) bout. Between the periods, the brats (all under 18) skated a two period bout. These kids were amazing. At the WFTDA Nationals in Austin last month, they tromped all over the Seattle brat team. These kids are the future of our sport. I hope they come and see us again here. On behalf of Arizona derby fans, thank you Derby Brats for spreading derby love in your own way. (*^u^*)
Well derby fans. I have just come back from my first AZRD bout. As many of you know, I normally follow the AZDD, but in an effort to share derby love, this Michi-chan has checked out her adopted team, The Brawlarinas take on the Bruisers. We did get the calendar for this season! Here it is:
