Anyway all, I am back from Las Vegas after being up for a 24 hour marathon. Just to give you a recap of the past 48 hours..
Tue 730a - left work from the night before
Tue 1pm - went to sleep
Tue 6pm - woke up - therefore 5 hours of sleep
Tue 11pm - went to work
Wed 12m - our center had to shut down for a monthly "cold boot" of our systems. A friend and I decided to go to Lone Butte casino.
Wed 2a - played for about about 90 mins at the casino on a $20 bill, still walked out of there with $10 of that $20.
Wed 5a - got off of work, work-Robyn picked me up and we went to PHX.
Wed 730a - got on our flight
Wed 845a - arrived at LAS - took the Deuce (strip bus)
Wed 930a - arrived at the Stratosphere
Wed 945a - had the all-you-can-ho brunch buffet at the Strat - I went for thirds (those who had lunch with me on rollercon Saturday at the IP can understand what I mean here)
Wed 1030a - with very full bellies - we took a cab to Sin City Skates
Wed 1230p - we left Sin City skates and decided to just take the cab to McCarran (LAS) since I was getting very tired.
Wed 1p - we get back to LAS and try to list on an earlier flight. turns out while we were in the middle of listing for that flight, it cancelled. oh great, that may impact our 4pm flight. fortunately, many of the passengers were accommodated on a 1p flight that was being held.
Wed 4p - as expected - the flight checked in full because of the earlier cancellation. For the first time in my career at US, I was bumped from a flight. Had a couple of buddy pass passengers throwing a fit (obviously, the employee who gave them the buddy pass did not educate them correctly)
Wed 515p - Robyn and I got on a regional jet flight back to PHX.
Wed 630p - We finally arrive back in PHX. We go have dinner. (Old Spaghetti Factory... YUM!)
Wed 8p - We leave TOSF and start heading back home. I get a call from one of my derby friends wanting to know if I wanted to skate at the church tonight. Reminded her that it's after 8 and they close at 9, plus I have been up for over 24 hours and I am beat.
Wed 830p - Finally get home. Wish Shawn a happy birthday (did I mention that it was Shawn's birthday?). Put Bear to bed.
Wed 9p - Checked my e-mail and finally went to sleep myself. Hence, up for 27 hours straight in the name of derby love.
Thu 5a - Woke up. (8 hours of sleep)

As you can all see, I had a very busy day. I am still exhausted right now. However, I have a brand new pair of Sure Grip Rebels. I was originally going there to get R-3's but when I tried on the R-3's, the tongue was hurting my feet and was leaving a mark. I tried on the Rebels, and they did feel much better on my feet. Plus they are a leather boot which if taken care of right, will work out better than the vinyl R-3's.

I decided to shop at Sin City Skates because they are derby skater owned and operated and in addition to my friends in the leagues that I am affiliated with here, I trust their advice more than the local skate shops here in PHX.

The topic of transgenders in derby came up. I have learned a few new things which I will be researching.

Anyway, I need to start working on this week's Hardcore J update. I am still very exhausted and need to still rest up to get back to my schedule. I am pretty sure I may miss Tucson but I want to give these Rebels a test run one of these days soon. I may hit Mesa on Monday night. Hopefully AZRD will let me hang around afterwards to watch their practice from the pic-a-nic tables. (*^u^*).

Look out world - here comes Michi-chan!

While the fire we had at our house was fairly minor, it did attract media attention.  Mainly, because the damage was minor thanks to a free smoke detector placed in our house by a non-profit organization as well as a working fire extinguisher we had in that unit of the duplex.

Almeda was interviewed by Channels 12 and 15 and the story did air on Channel 15.

Please watch the video.  See the Michi-chan out of character.  I challenge all of you to test your smoke detector and check you fire extinguisher before the 9/22 bout between the Brutal Beauties and the Scrappers.

CHECK IT OUT BEFORE THE BOUT!

Please pass on this video!

As some of you know, we had a fire at the house last Wednesday that only did minor damage. It did minor damage because we had a working smoke detector and a charged fire extinguisher in the house.

The smoke detectors for the house (both A & B) were provided free from The Foundation for Burns and Trauma. Their free smoke detector installed in the house (as well as one of our cats) were the early warning that Almeda, Bear and Shawn needed to tend to the fire before it spread. Fortunately, only a couch was destroyed and the front room of A has some fire damage. All people and animals are OK.

The Foundation arranged for Ch. 12 and Ch. 15 to come out to the house and do stories on the situation and they may appear on tonight's 10PM newscasts.

REC's Almeda (Kristi Kitty) Davis was interviewed.

Please watch for us on the news and please make sure that your home's smoke detector battery is working and your home fire extinguisher is charged.

For us involved in derby, let's make a commitment to have this done before the upcoming 9/22 bout between the Brutal Beauties and the Scrappers.
CHECK IT OUT BEFORE THE BOUT!

Thanks for everyone's support and we ask everyone to please help support the efforts of the Foundation. They came through for us through at the right time!

Hey AZDD fans!  Here's a parody song based on something that really happened at the June 2007 bout between the Brutal Beauties and the School Yard Scrappers!

This song is released just in time for their rematch bout (which will also decide who will be going to the finals in November).  The rematch bout will be on Saturday night 9/22 at the Castle Sports Club on 19th Av jno Peoria Av.

Will Rocker take me down again?  We shall see!

We will have another derby song release on 10/1/2007.  Stay tuned!
