³Heart for Arts²- Historical background
In the winter of 2003, Richard Galaviz Jr., a comedian and community fundraiser, approached the Calaca Cultural Center for the possibility of starting a fundraiser for our activities. After several meetings with him and other community members, we agreed on the merits and benefits to this event. In February 2004, we had our first annual Heart for Arts event at Garcia¹s del Metro, our facilities sponsored ever since. Funds raised at this event has able to assist the Calaca Cultural Center in initiating projects and programs with opportunities for the cultural artists and community as a whole. Funds had help with the opening of several exhibits, open new performance venues, assisted with administrative expenses, assisted in providing free arts workshops for school kids, assisted many of our artists with opportunities in the arts, and more. Your help in making this event a success comes with your participation. Come and celebrate with us, enjoy art, music, food and moreŠ..

*Sponsors include: El Quinto Sol, Zopilote News, Happy Printers, Garcia¹s del Metro, Teleguia en Español, Spanglish Times, and others. If you wish to sponsor this event or other future events please contact us.

For more information please contact us at 480-557-7195 or email info@calaca.com . Check our web site www.calaca.org for other events.
